This project involved a major addition and complete alteration of the existing courthouse. A major challenge of the alterations included the construction of a second floor addition over occupied space, the County records room. This work necessitated the removal of the existing roof structure and construction of a new second floor. To do this work while the County occupied the space below, Murnane designed and installed a temporary structure and roof membrane that allowed

County operations to continue unimpeded by the construction process. The total project was completed under budget and $73,000 of the general construction contingency allowance was returned to St. Lawrence County at the conclusion of the project. The project earned a Build New York Award in 1995 for Murnane Building Contractors based on excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques, and responsiveness to client needs.
